What was I thinking??

So here's the update on our first 2 prenatal classes. The first night wasn't anything too exciting just going over basics and terms for labor and delivery. Then last night we watched two movies and took a tour of the hospital. The movies scared me, I won't lie. Brian had to remind me to breathe a few times and I'm sure I was making some disgusted faces. I guess he's just practicing for when he really will need to help me with breathing!

One of the movies was "The Miracle of Life" done by the BYU Nursing department. It was filmed at the Provo hospital and 3 of the doctors at the clinic I go to were in the movie. That was cool to see. All I can say is that I am so glad I don't have to see the actual birth. No mirrors for me thank you! Sorry for those with weak stomachs but let's be honest...who hasn't seen that video sometime in their life. I just kept telling Brian that I can't do that. I think it's a little late so I guess I'll just have to keep breathing and just take it one step at a time.

The hospital tour was helpful. It helped me understand better what to expect and what happens where. We also got to see the nursery and just before we left a brand new baby, less than an hour old, came into the nursery with the dad to get cleaned up. Things are starting to get more real for me. I still sometimes have to tell myself our lives are going to change so much once this little guy comes but we are both so excited.

Yesterday we also went in for our routine doctors appointment. It was the last time they will fall every 4 weeks. Now I've increased to every 2 weeks. The doctor we saw yesterday was the one who looked at my ultrasound pictures and he had written a note on my chart that he hadn't been able to see a good view of the heart. So at our next check up we're getting another ultrasound done just to get a better look at his heart now that he's bigger. (I originally had my ultrasound done when I was at 18 1/2 weeks because that's what the doctor ordered but apparently that was a little too early and he wasn't quite as big as they would like him to be to get a good look at everything in the ultrasound.) So Brian will get a good birthday present and get to see his son on his birthday! Right after the ultrasound we will have our appointment with the doctor to go over the pictures and make sure everything is still good. At the appointment yesterday we heard the baby's heart beat again and he said it's a good, strong heart beat. And my belly is measuring right on. So even though I didn't like to hear that we have to go get another ultrasound, I'm ok with it because I'm glad they're being so thorough and cautious with the development of our baby. So we get to see our baby again and get more pictures of him in 2 weeks!! It will be interesting to see him now that's he's a lot bigger.

Sorry for another long post without any pictures but I figured family at least would like to keep updated on how we're doing. We're heading for a fun weekend. My dad is in town so we'll be spending time with family and my little sis is throwing my baby shower on Saturday! I can't wait to see all my friends and family that are coming!

What Would You Do?

If it were over 100 degrees outside, what would you do? Well, I would prefer to stay indoors next to an air vent (especially being 6 1/2 months pregnant)! Instead my husband and I decided we needed to finish the backyard... That required a trip to Home Depot (never quick and never cheap). Then we had to re-weed the backyard, pour the mulch, and make it look nice. [Side note: I have an amazing husband who did most of this so I didn't have to do any heavy lifting.]

We took a much needed break inside to cool down and rest for a little bit. Then we moved to the front flower bed where the tree stump needed to be removed. I didn't help at all for this activity but I sat out in the yard to keep Brian company and get him things he needed. It sure was a HOT day but we survived and our yard looks so much better now! I still need to take a picture of the finished product and then I can do a before and after display for you all.

Next question...how would you celebrate your two year anniversary when you know it's going to be your last one without kids around?? Well, lucky for us...we're going to our first prenatal class tonight in celebration!! Ok, so it wasn't our first choice in anniversary activities but this was our only option for taking this class before the baby comes. I'm not quite sure what to expect for 2 1/2 hours each night for 4 weeks... Hopefully it will better prepare me for what to expect so I won't be as nervous. Happy Anniversary Brian!!

On to something funny...my belly moves on its own a lot! Saturday night I was laying in bed just watching my belly move. It was so entertaining to me that I would laugh out loud. Brian thought it was crazy but he loves being able to see and feel his son move and kick. He's going to be such a great father...I can't wait! I'll update later on how the class goes tonight!

Busy Summer So Far...

I know, I know, I've promised pictures for over a month now but it's been so busy around here that I just don't feel like blogging is at the top of the priority list right now. And with all our pictures being on Brian's laptop, I rarely get a chance to use it these days. So, since he's gone and I don't have access to the pictures again, I just wanted to do a quick update since it's been over a month. Then pictures will follow hopefully next week.

• 4th of July was exhausting but fun! On the 3rd we went to the traditional Marchant Family Breakfast, then went and set up on the parade route to stake out our location in front of Brian's current office (aka: really long day in the sun for us). Then the 4th we woke up super early (5:00 am) to get back to the office to get ready for the pancake breakfast the campaign was putting on. Parade started, rain started, then the sun fried us! Again, long day.
• Finally planted the flowers in the front flower bed. (I hope they survive!)
• Started landscaping the backyard but ran out of mulch so we haven't finished.
  
• Set up the crib in the baby's room. (I know it's still early but we had to figure out how everything was going to fit in that little room!)
• I started crocheting a baby blanket. Hopefully it turns out how it's supposed to.
• We have a long list of things to get done around the house before the baby comes...12 weeks left!
• I turned 27.
  
• My little brother Kyle went in to the MTC on June 10th.
• My mom came to visit!
• I got a new job (along with a pay increase)! My official first day was July 2nd. It's still in the Registrar's Office but I'm now in Academic Scheduling. It's been just over a week and I love it so far. It's a huge blessing for us!
  
• Brian's been super busy running the John Curtis for Provo Mayor campaign. Which also means I've been busy helping him :)
• Baby is healthy and still growing...and so am I...(sorry no pictures of that, I haven't even taken any of myself this whole time)

That's all I can remember for the past month. We are all doing well and enjoying the summer together. It is flying by and it looks like it will continue to go that way with our busy schedules. But that means the last of the pregnancy will go by fast too, right??? I've only recently felt some discomfort with the growing of my belly and the pressure on my ribs. I count my lucky stars that we had nice weather throughout June and only the last few weeks have been getting really hot. I try to stay indoors as much as possible! I'll try to keep this more updated because it's my attempt at a "journal". I promise to do a big post of pictures when I can get my hands on the right computer!
