Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas from the Chapmans!! We hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. We were blessed by the generosity of family and friends. Simon was so excited to open presents it wore him out. We had to hurry and open all of his first before he fell asleep. After he was down for his nap, Brian and I opened our presents. We had a wonderful first Christmas together with Simon!

Simon so excited for Christmas!
Santa came!!

My favorite present!! My sister Maria gave me this bracelet with tiny pictures of Simon in it. Now every day Simon will be able to come to work with me!!!

Oh Blessed Sleep

So I don't have any pictures to post right now but I had to document Simon's progress. Last week on Thursday, Dec 10th, Simon slept through the night for the first time!! I remember waking up a few minutes before my alarm went off at 6:30 and doing a double take at the clock. I couldn't believe he had slept through the night. I had to wake him up before I left for work to feed him. Then he did it again on Saturday night, the 12th.

The best one is Tuesday night when he went down just after 7pm because he hadn't slept much that afternoon. I decided I would just let him sleep instead of waking him just before I went to bed to feed him. He slept all through the night until I woke him up around 6:15am Wednesday morning. It was so nice to have him down early so I could get things done around the house and still get a good nights sleep.

Just so you know that this is not a consistent sleeper, I'll explain the next two nights. Wednesday night he refused to go to sleep until after 11pm even though he was definitely tired. Once he got down though, he slept until I woke him up at 7am. He almost wouldn't wake up though. I tried everything, even lifting up his legs and letting them fall back down on the mattress. Nothing...not even a little twitch. I finally had to pick him up to get him to wake up. Then last night, Thursday, he went down fairly easily (aka only 5-8 minutes of minimal crying) just after 9pm. I was so hopefully that he'd sleep all night like the previous nights. Fat chance...3 am came and he was awake! My wonderful husband got up to change him and then I fed him. He woke up again as I was fixing his blanket at 7am. I guess he's got a schedule of his own still. Maybe someday soon he'll be on a more consistent sleep schedule. I guess it's better than him reverting back to waking up twice in the night like he did the week before he slept through the night. I'll take it when I get it!!

Cute pictures to come of him sucking his thumb!! It's so adorable.

Many Faces of Simon

I'm not sure what you're doing/thinking face

I'm Sleeping Face

Surprised (possibly startled) face

Happy face

I love how his cheeks get chubbier as the pictures progress. He is getting to be such a big little guy now! At his two month appointment (11/30) he weighed in at 13.9 lbs and 23 1/4 inches long. I can't believe he's that big already!! No wonder it seems harder to carry him around these days! He has been growing like a weed and his smiles are to die for. He started giving me really big smiles last week when I come home from work. That makes everything worth it! Thanksgiving, along with Simon's blessing, pictures and update to come later (hopefully soon)!

Laughing

This video was taken on Nov 4 when Simon was about 5 weeks old. He had fallen asleep in my arms and then laughed in his sleep. Luckily the camera was close by so I grabbed it and tried to get him to laugh again. Don't mind my laugh, I was just trying to get him to copy me and laugh more. Don't baby smiles and cute noises make your heart melt?? Or am I just biased?? Gotta love him!
