A New Year

We didn't take any pictures on New Year's but we were pretty busy. In the morning we ran some errands and then in the afternoon we went to Cabella's and IKEA with Maria and Tim. We tagged along because Brian wanted to get out of the house. As soon as we got home we had to hurry and get our house cleaned up and make the food for our party that evening. We got home later than we had wanted to so we were pretty rushed. Again, we made hors d'oeuvors to eat and played some games. My sister Maria and her husband Tim came over and so did Jackie (my old roommate) and her fiancee Daniel. Later our other friend Sena came too. Maria and Tim brought some pretty fun games and I really enjoyed playing them! I could have played "Like Minds" all night. It was pretty funny!! Then at midnight we watched the ball drop and banged pots and pans outside. Then we ran back into the warm house and drank our sparkling cider. It was a pretty fun evening but I was getting tired and wanted just one day to relax and not do anything!!

The next day I tried to wake up for the Rose Parade but I slept through most of it after I ate breakfast. I tried watching it when the rebroadcast it but I couldn't seem to stay awake through that one either. It doesn't really help when you're laying down on the couch I'm sure! I finally got myself up and got ready for the day. Then I went and took some engagement pictures of Jackie and Daniel up American Fork Canyon. It was pretty cold outside and we were in some pretty deep snow at some points but I think the pictures turned out pretty good. Or at least that's what they told me after they got them developed. I'm now looking forward to the upcoming weekend and hopefully get to relax some! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season and look forward to a new year ahead!!

Christmas Day!!

We had a white Christmas. We were skeptical at first because the day before it was sunny and melting the snow that was left on the ground from the week before. But when we woke up Christmas morning there was a blanket of fresh snow that had fallen. It was so beautiful and refreshing. After looking in our stockings we made a nice big breakfast! It's a tradition in Brian's family to have breakfast before opening presents so we did that this year. With it just being the two of us it was really nice to take our time and kind of drag out the excitement. We were both blessed with great gifts from each other and family.

After we cleaned up the wrapping paper on the floor we decided to go take advantage of the fresh snow outside. We had just gotten some snowball makers so we went out to see if there was enough snow to use them. It was perfect!

Brian loves playing in the snow...especially if it gives him the opportunity to throw snow at me! This is him using the snowball maker to get a perfect snowball to throw in my direction!!

Notice how I have a lot of snow on my coat and Brian looks pretty clean...that's why he likes playing in the snow with me...I have bad aim! We enjoyed the rest of our day off together relaxing in the warm house!! What a splendid first Christmas we had.

Christmas Eve

I have absolutely loved having our little house decorated for Christmas! We both had a lot of fun pulling out the decorations the weekend after Thanksgiving and finding places to put everything. This was our main display area for Christmas decorations. After our Gingerbread house was completed we just relaxed the rest of the day and then had a fun Christmas Eve dinner. In my family the tradition is to do a bunch of hors d'oeuvres for dinner. So we went all out with just the two of us and made it look fancy and everything! This is our spread of food.
We moved the table into the front room and watched "Miracle on 34th Street" while we ate. It was a wonderful first Christmas spent with the one that I love. We both really enjoyed our first Christmas together with only each other.

Getting Creative

So on Christmas Eve my husband and I made a gingerbread house (aka graham cracker house). We were a little creative and wanted to have some fun so we made it a house with a light house on the beach. It turned out pretty cool but it took us over 2 hours to finish it!! It was fun though.

This is Brian putting on the snow.
