Birthdays!

Both my sister and Brian have birthdays in August so the Sunday between their birthdays we had a dinner for them both. I made a cake, nothing special or fancy but it was yummy. Neither of them turned 24 but those were the two number candles that I had so I used them anyway.

Two days later we really celebrated Brian's birthday. He had to wake up early for a meeting in SLC so when he got in the shower I got up and made him breakfast. It was a bagel and chocolate milk so nothing too difficult but when I was planning it I didn't know he had a meeting so I was planning on something that I could leave for him when I went to work.
Then in the evening we went out to dinner with a few friends to celebrate. We went to Goodwood Barbeque. It was pretty good food and we had good company. Here's the group (minus me taking the picture).
Following dinner Brian and I went on a walk and enjoyed the cool night air. Then we ate cake. I made an oreo cream cheese cake. It was really good and so fun. I had gone home during my lunch break to make it because I knew Brian wouldn't be home. So it surprised him and he was really grateful. I was so happy that I could surprise him on his birthday. He is such an amazing husband to me and I love him!

24th of July BBQ

So it's been a month since I last blogged and a lot has been happening around here since then. On the 24th of July, Pioneer Day, I had the day off so we took advantage of it. In the late afternoon my sister and her husband came over for a BBQ at our house. We set up a table in the front yard and had corn on the cob and Brats. It was really yummy!
Then we roasted marshmallows on the coals from the barbeque. It was a delightful and fun meal!Then Brian has made a new tradition the past 2 years. On the first BBQ of the season, he burns the gingerbread house made during the Christmas holiday season. I know it's towards the end of the summer but this really was our first bbq this summer. It was finally time to burn the house and say hello to more space on the top of the fridge!! It was pretty cool to watch it go down.
Sugar sure does burn like crazy! It helps when it has lighter fluid on it too. :)The onlookers: Tim was having just as much fun with the fire as Brian was. He talked about adopting it as one of his traditions even. The glowing embers inside the charbroiled house...now don't you want to adopt this tradition in your own family??
